Title: First leads field with computerised driver advice
Post by: woody on November 17, 2011, 08:39:09
First Great Western is leading the industry in the introduction of an on-board driver advisory system designed to reduce fuel consumption and improve performance and safety.

The system is being fitted across the operator's 119 high speed train power car fleet following extensive trials, with plans to go live with the new technology early next year.

A good idea as much fuel is wasted with some drivers unnecessarily caning the engines.  Quite where the improved safety comes from though I don't know?!

Makes me wonder how long it will be before the driver is only there in case of emergency :)
