I was at Cardiff central when this happened, they evacuated the station, however no-one seemed clear including the platform staff, what was happening. A short while later we were informed that platform 3/4 and 6/7 were now clear so trains were running as normal from these platforms but not from platforms 1/2. So i got the 1704 Cardiff-Pembroke Dock train.

What platform was it on ?   Putting other snippets together it was probably 150229 on Platform 0 to work 17 35 to Ebbw Vale.

Yes 150229 in Platform 0 working the 17:35 Cardiff - Ebbw Vale service.

Not sure of the extent of the damage though

There were 2 150s sat on Platform 0 plus a FGW Pacer on Platform 1, otherwise there were no other trains at that point in the station. Didnt look to be much damage.
