APPEAL FOR INFORMATION AFTER TRAIN GUARD THREATENED - WILTSHIRE

British Transport Police officers are appealing for the public^s help to identify a man and woman they would like to speak to about an incident on board a train in the Bradford-on-Avon area.

Officers have today released CCTV images of the man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident which happened on board a Gloucester to Weymouth service.

Investigating officer, PC Linda Carey-Harris said: ^On Thursday 8 September 2011, a couple with a small child in a pushchair boarded the 0842hrs Gloucester-Weymouth service at Bradford-on-Avon rail station at about 10.30am.

^The man and woman did not have tickets even though the ticket office was open and the ticket machine was in working order at Bradford-on-Avon station.  The train manager informed them that they would have to pay a penalty fare of ^20 each but they refused.  The train manager then asked them for their details. The woman offered her driving licence but the man snatched it from her before the train manager could read it.

^The man then became aggressive and threatened the train manager with violence before the couple alighted from the train when it arrived at Trowbridge station a couple of minutes later.^

Although no violence was used, the train manager felt threatened by the man^s behaviour and feared for his safety

PC Carey-Harris added: ^I would like to speak to the man in these CCTV images as we believe he will have information which can assist the investigation. I^d also like to speak to the woman who was with the man as, again, she will have information which can help police. She was not captured on CCTV but is described as white, about 5ft 7in, with fair hair. She had an earring through her nose and was wearing black jeans.

^Anyone who recognises the man in the photographs, or the description of the woman, is asked to contact British Transport Police straight away.^
