Post by: BerkshireBugsy on October 31, 2011, 08:29:08 Didn't catch the FGW employee's name but when I came to buy my weekly ticket from THA to REI the person was very helpful. This may not be to everyones cup of tea early on a Monday morning but it was worth mentioning.
The guy in front of me bought a day return to Pangbourne which reminded me of some scams someone here mentioned regarding cheap (illegal!) ways of getting into London...I would like to think this person genuinely was going to Pangbourne rather than abusing the system. Post by: EBrown on November 02, 2011, 12:38:28 I regularly travel (maybe 2x a week, one way) to Reading from Reading West. As there is no open ticket office in the evenings, the ticket machines only accept card and there are no permit to travel machines; I go to Excess Fares at Reading and ask for the appropriate ticket, RDW to NBY. I then get the HST towards Frome.
However, being young (18) and as such, a "yob" - I always get a series of questions: 1) Where did you actually travel from? 2) What platform did the train leave from? 3) What time did the train leave? 4) Do you have any evidence that you were in Reading West? and occasionally: 5) You know I can call BTP and its illegal? My response was "Do you have any evidence to show that I was not at Ore?" (having genuinely travelled from that station).Needless to say this resulted in me being issued with the correct ticket and allowed on my way. I saw a post recently which actually showed a still from the onboard CCTV - which suprised me as I thought they were probably dummy cameras.
