Title: RIP Sir Jimmy Savile - dead at 84.
Post by: James Vertigan on October 29, 2011, 16:01:38
Veteran broadcaster Sir Jimmy Savile has died aged 84 at his home, just two days short of his 85th birthday, it has been announced.

As well as his TV and radio work and the "clunk click" Public Information Films, Sir Jimmy was also known for his work on the "Age of The Train" adverts for Intercity/British Rail:

(MODS: Please feel free to move this topic somewhere more suitable if required, I thought it may be more suited here due to his links with BR)

Very sad news. I'm sure many have fond memories of Sir Jimmy Savile from Jim'll Fix it on Saturday evenings to presenting Top of the Pops. Not forgetting the adverts promoting rail travel both on TV and on posters at stations.

So will anyone own up to having been fixed by Sir Jim?

How funny!  ;D

I had no idea that particular commercial had a tenuous link to FGW!

Not only Bodders as it was, but also an HST with decent Seats and quite a few tables to sit round in second class.
