Title: Matrix Post by: grahame on October 19, 2011, 20:26:04 In indexing my articles / resources on public rail transport (http://www.wellho.net/resources/Z501.html) and public road transport (http://www.wellho.net/resources/Z501.html) I have come up with this grid of pictures. Not intended as a "where is this?" type quiz initially, but I wonder how many you folks can place or tell me about?

Yes. I'll declare an 'inside information' interest from the outset, as I make a personal appearance in one of them ... ::) An honourable and personal appearance. But can you spot any of the others? Note ... I have not set a "one only" rule on this one ... Title: Re: Matrix Post by: rogerpatenall on October 19, 2011, 22:14:03 Two of Weymouth, perchance?
Title: Re: Matrix Post by: Chris from Nailsea on October 19, 2011, 22:23:17 Alright, then: column 5 includes two pictures taken at Melksham Station ... and there are some other pictures on the grid that were taken in Melksham, but not necessarily at the railway station. ;D
Title: Re: Matrix Post by: Chris from Nailsea on October 19, 2011, 22:29:51 Oh, and there's a Taunton. >:(
Title: Re: Matrix Post by: JayMac on October 20, 2011, 00:09:41 I'll declare an 'inside information' interest from the outset, as I make a personal appearance in one of them ... ::) That'd be you in the Hi-Vis then? (Row 2 col 5) Title: Re: Matrix Post by: thetrout on October 20, 2011, 01:29:52 Row 2 Column 2 is bugging me!
I suspect it's the main bus stops in Trowbridge Town Centre and you're either looking at a ZigZag service (But i didn't think they used Optare buses) or the Number 66 Frome Minibuses service which also forms the 17:40 234 to Frome! Which is definately run by an Optare! As an aside we did have a new bus service, the number 23 which ran Warminster - Trowbridge via Westbury and White Horse Business Park. Which for me was ideal as it was ran every half an hour or so I never had to wait long after work to catch it and it was incredibly punctual! (Sometimes too punctual) Unfortunately they withdrew operating this route which made thetrout very cross! >:( Now we're back to First Group who quite often turn up 10 - 20 minutes late, with drivers who ask you for directions because they don't know the route. Or definately the most annoying one of the day... To not turn up at all!!! Which has happened to me once too often, so now I mostly walk it! :o >:( ;D Title: Re: Matrix Post by: grahame on October 20, 2011, 05:31:40 Let's see ... yes - there are two of Weymouth (now which were they ;D ?)
Column 2. ?? - picture is indeed Trowbridge - the town service, number 66 I think. - ?? - ?? Column 3. Weymouth - ?? - ?? - Weymouth Column 4. ?? - ?? - Hayling Island - ?? Column 5. Taunton - Melksham - ?? - Melksham There will indeed be quite a few in the bunch of Melksham; the pictures are used to support the blog link indexes I listed and as I live in the place I talk about it quite a bit ;). But some of those (the account for a third of the grid) are very hard to identify to place. Title: Re: Matrix Post by: thetrout on October 20, 2011, 10:37:36 Yes it's a 66 bus if that's Trowbridge. I'm not 100% sure, but my understanding is that Bodmans Coaches (These "Wiltshire Bus" Thingys) also operate some of the services on the 66 route. AFAIK the 66 runs around the housing estate next to Tesco Extra. It also serves Broadmead (In Trowbridge, not Bristol ;) )
I know however that Frome Minibuses which operate some the 66 route services do also run a single 234 service at 17:40 from Trowbridge - Frome serving the village of Rode on request. This because the Bus needs to come back to Frome for fuel anyway. I quite often see it in the Petrol Station at Sainsburys! I've caught it a few times. Since Faresaver changed the timetables, it is actually the last Frome bound 234 of the evening! Sorry for the mess up, I just couldn't remember that the building in the back left of the picture was there and actually looked like that..........! Title: Re: Matrix Post by: eightf48544 on October 20, 2011, 12:13:43 The RF and Country RM from Cobham bus museum on a running day?
Title: Re: Matrix Post by: grahame on October 20, 2011, 18:47:26 The RF and Country RM from Cobham bus museum on a running day? No ... I don't think so. As far as I can research, the red one is based in Chippenham and the green one (much weaker evidence here) is from Essex. Title: Re: Matrix Post by: Chris from Nailsea on October 20, 2011, 21:21:49 Hmm. Row 2, column 4 has a suggestion of Taunton about it, I think ... :P ::)
Title: Re: Matrix Post by: Phil on October 20, 2011, 21:50:23 Knowing where Graham was last week, I'm inclined to say I'm sorry - I Havant a clue"
Title: Re: Matrix Post by: thetrout on October 21, 2011, 19:32:37 Hmm. Row 2, column 4 has a suggestion of Taunton about it, I think ... :P ::) Definately ;D Bus Stops on Station Road for services destined to Ladymead Road, Priorswood, Nerrols Farm, Bildgewater and Highbridge/Burham. Title: Re: Matrix Post by: grahame on October 22, 2011, 03:07:11 Column 2. ?? - picture is indeed Trowbridge - the town service, number 66 I think. - ?? - ??
Column 3. Weymouth - ?? - ?? - Weymouth Column 4. ?? - Taunton - Hayling Island - ?? Column 5. Taunton - Melksham - ?? - Melksham Apart from the Hayling Island picture nearby, nothing from the Havant trip in the matrix. Did get a rather couple of rather nice other pictures ... (http://www.wellho.net/pix/sfront5.jpg) and (http://www.wellho.net/pix/havantstationatdusk.jpg) Title: Re: Matrix Post by: smokey on October 22, 2011, 11:02:17 If Plastic traffic cones are GROWING iin the water, I sure won't drink it ;D ;D ;D
