DID YOU WITNESS INCIDENTS AT BRIDGWATER RAILWAY STATION?

British Transport Police (BTP) officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a station security guard was assaulted and members of the public were threatened at Bridgwater railway station.

The incidents happened between 8.45pm and 9pm on Wednesday, 5 October 2011.

Investigating officer, PC Linda Carey-Harris, said: ^A group of five men alighted from the 1900hrs Cardiff Central ^ Taunton train on Platform 1 at around 8.45pm. Two of the men attracted the attention of a security guard at Bridgwater station after they disappeared behind a wall. The guard went to check on the welfare of the men but was subjected to a barrage of abusive language before the men began pushing him violently in the chest and making threats to harm him.

^The two men left the guard and rejoined the others in the group before starting to hurl abuse at passengers standing on the opposite platform. One of the men then threw a beer can across the tracks towards the passengers on the opposite platform. No one was injured in the incidents but the security guard feared for his safety throughout.^

Officers are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

PC Carey-Harris added: ^d like to hear from anyone who knows the men responsible, or who saw what happened. I am also appealing for the passengers who were abused and had the beer can thrown at them to come forward as they may have information which can assist the investigation.^

The two men who assaulted the guard are described as white, aged about 18, with short hair.

One was about 5ft 7in and of medium build and wore a dark-coloured hooded top, jeans and trainers. The second was around 5ft 6in and had stubble. He was wearing a white T-shirt with an unknown logo on the front, light-coloured jeans and trainers.

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, quoting incident B7/WWA of 07/10/20111, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
