Title: RAIB are recruiting Rail Accident Investigators Post by: Chris from Nailsea on September 27, 2011, 21:19:38 From the RAIB press release (http://www.raib.gov.uk/about_us/careers_with_the_raib/110926_rail_accident_inspectors.cfm):
Quote Worth investigating Woking (Surrey) or Derby ^ To ^75k The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) is the UK^s independent railway accident investigation organisation. Looking into accidents and incidents on the UK^s railways, their focus is to prevent a similar occurrence rather than apportioning blame. They are currently seeking to strengthen their front-line team. Whenever there is an accident or incident on the UK^s railways, you will be among the first to respond. You will manage operations both on site and during all following investigations ^ carrying out interviews, managing other specialists, commissioning third parties and securing invaluable evidence. Having done so, you will analyse and report upon the factors that lead to incidents, and determine the actions that would prevent similar incidents in the future, leading to improvements in the safety of the railways. Your extensive broad-based record would ideally include signalling, rolling stock, infrastructure, operations or human factors, but we are open to all rail disciplines, or to investigation experience gained from an allied industry. It would be preferable if you had a degree in a relevant discipline. You must be prepared to undergo security and health checks. Investigations involve work where environmental conditions can be difficult and demanding so you must be physically able to operate effectively in this role. We will provide expert training in the skills and knowledge required. For further information and details of how to apply, please email dftrecruitment@dftssc.gsi.gov.uk Closing date 5.00pm, Monday 24th October. The Department for Transport is an equal opportunities employer. We value diversity and want our workforce to reflect the communities that we serve.
