From the FGW website
Quote
Two First Great Western managers are cycling against the famed Golden Hind service to raise money for Save The Children.

The flagship Golden Hind service runs Penzance-Paddington-Penzance, departing at 0505 each weekday and returning from London Paddington at 1803.

Exeter based Stuart Mclay and Andy McRae will cycle from Penzance at the same time as the train on Thursday 8 September, and have targeted an 1803 arrival on Friday 9 September.

Their route equates to 290 miles cycling in 37 hours.

Anyone know how they got on?  They'd have deserved a meal in the Pullman Restaurant on the down Hind if they did it!
