Title: Bristol to Grotwick..... Post by: Mookiemoo on July 06, 2011, 22:27:35 Sprouts fell through
Have interview tomorrow for gig about 100 yards from grotwick rail Not sure I want a season as I'm happy to book advances and I might stay over 1/2 nights a week if need be But ....... since I'm crap these days at this stuff 1. Cheapest season split on a monthly ticket 2. Cheapest walk on splits Advances I can sort myself which will be my best option - in 2. the focus is on the up in the morning since I know I can get cheap first advances on the 2000 . I do standard these days as well Title: Re: Bristol to Grotwick..... Post by: Chris from Nailsea on July 06, 2011, 23:19:51 ... and, in English? ::)
Title: Re: Bristol to Grotwick..... Post by: devon_metro on July 06, 2011, 23:32:56 I wasn't aware that the small Hertfordshire village of Stuffing Grotwick had a railway station?
Title: Re: Bristol to Grotwick..... Post by: JayMac on July 06, 2011, 23:56:19 Sorry, I really am struggling with what you are asking there, mookiemoo.
Could you be more specific on: Start station Dates/Times Class of Travel How many trips a week Title: Re: Bristol to Grotwick..... Post by: Mookiemoo on July 07, 2011, 09:08:29 ok - sorry - it made sense to me when I typed it - been in paddy land too long!
1. Are there any decent split opportunities on season tickets for Bristol to Grotwick if I decide to use seasons 2. I would probably make the return trip three times a week minimum - possibly five - depends on how the journey turns out and how often I miss the impossible connection at reading 3. Need to be at Grotwick by 0845 can leave anytime after five 4. Am happy to use advances - I know for example the 8pm from PAD normally has decent first class advances and would be happy to be restricted to advances to go first 5. Other than advances, standard class - not allowed to pay for first anymore !!!!! Title: Re: Bristol to Grotwick..... Post by: JayMac on July 07, 2011, 09:38:55 In all likelihood the best split will be the usual; at Didcot, but does tie you to services calling there if you hold two split season tickets.
An alternative would be AP to Didcot and then a Didcot-Gatwick season. No need for train to call with that combination. I'll look into fares later. Title: Re: Bristol to Grotwick..... Post by: LiskeardRich on July 07, 2011, 10:34:44 whenever i;ve travelled up to gatwick, i've found it cheapest to split at redhill.
from truro to redhill i've normally been able to get advances for around ^50 return, but truro- gatwick never seems to have cheap tickets and seems to give prices around ^200 return. Redhill-~Gatwick is a couple of quid for a single Title: Re: Bristol to Grotwick..... Post by: Hafren on July 07, 2011, 20:51:35 If you can stretch to Gatwick-Redland via Salisbury, there are some nice advances in the evening! eg 27 July 18:40 - 22:26 ^8.50
Title: Re: Bristol to Grotwick..... Post by: thetrout on July 08, 2011, 10:01:32 I second the Salisbury option. Simple change at Clapham Junction onto a Southern Service.
Avoid the Brighton Fast's though, as are mostly run by 442's (Plastic Pigs, Which are an excellent train if I may add ;D ). They are a bit rude and don't normally call at Gatwick :o ::) :-X Title: Re: Bristol to Grotwick.....
