Title: The Collett Express - 18-06-11 Post by: Heart-of-Wessex on June 17, 2011, 17:37:38 Hello all,
Anyone going to see GWR Castle 'Earl of Mount Edgcumbe' steaming on the Collett Express tomorrow? It was due to be double headed but this is now out the window! It's passing through Newbury, Westbury East curve, Trowbridge and Bath to Bristol, and returning via Chippenham and Swindon. Times: http://www.uksteam.info/tours/t11/t0618d.htm If the weather holds, then I'll cycle over to Freshford to see her there, but if it's raining, I might try Avoncliff instead! Regards, James. It's also a pity they closed the Didcot, Newbury & Southampton Railway - the train could have avoided Reading altogether! I see it sits south of Oxford for water for about 50 minutes, and again for an hour and 10 minutes on the way back. Must be fun if you are joining/leaving at Oxford :D Title: Re: The Collett Express - 18-06-11 Post by: bobm on June 17, 2011, 18:12:27 Quite handy on the way down. You could photograph it leaving Oxford and then get a train to catch up with it at Didcot Parkway.
