Title: Take That Post by: ReWind on June 14, 2011, 22:12:56 I see ATW and FGW are putting on extra services tonigt for the Take That concert goers in cardiff!
Services from Bristol were very busy today, from personal experience the 12.21 had over 200 people on platform 5 waiting for it! I do hope there is a little "patience" at Cardiff tonight waiting to board a train home and the concert goers "never forget" their experience with FGW! On a serious note, what are FGW obliged to do to get people home tonight? Is their anything in their franchise that committs them to run extra trains for events like this and the upcoming Glastonbury festival? Title: Re: Take That Post by: 6 OF 2 redundant adjunct of unimatrix 01 on June 14, 2011, 22:32:20 cardiff isn't a fgw station is it?
Title: Re: Take That Post by: Lee on June 14, 2011, 23:20:46 cardiff isn't a fgw station is it? No, it isn't. As far as the border between FGW and ATW stations is concerned, I would have thought Gloucester and/or the Severn Tunnel is where "everything changes". Title: Re: Take That Post by: noddingdonkey on June 15, 2011, 09:47:10 I don't think it really matters who runs the station. As long as all the concert goers came back for good is all that is important.
Title: Re: Take That Post by: 6 OF 2 redundant adjunct of unimatrix 01 on June 15, 2011, 11:53:46 sorry you guys misunderstand i asked in reply to the question 'what are FGW obliged to do to get people home tonight'
Title: Re: Take That Post by: readytostart on June 15, 2011, 13:00:57 Well I'm sure for many fans this could be their Grestest Day, if FGW are doing something and posted it on their website then It Only Takes a Minute for people to check.
Just to be Sure, they could always Pray. *groan* Title: Re: Take That Post by: Andy on June 15, 2011, 14:23:58 Let us hope that if some decide to abandon FGW and go solo to the Millenium stadium, they will have NO Regrets. It would be a Shame if they missed the concert.
Title: Re: Take That Post by: Ollie on June 15, 2011, 19:57:58 sorry you guys misunderstand i asked in reply to the question 'what are FGW obliged to do to get people home tonight' Judging from the log I read for yesterday road transport was providedTitle: Re: Take That Post by: Lee on June 15, 2011, 20:29:16 That will have saved a few people from being Up All Night.
Title: Re: Take That Post by: Ollie on June 15, 2011, 20:39:42 But seeing as we provided road transport they are now Back For Good
Title: Re: Take That Post by: slippy on June 15, 2011, 20:58:27 sorry you guys misunderstand i asked in reply to the question 'what are FGW obliged to do to get people home tonight' If 64,000 people turn up for the 23:27 Cardiff to Bristol, think FGW are indeed obliged to do something about it. Title: Re: Take That Post by: anthony215 on June 15, 2011, 21:48:27 heard that FGW put some HST's on their late night services from Cardiff to Bristol to cope with the crouds
Title: Re: Take That Post by: slippy on June 15, 2011, 22:13:23 I was on a HST (crammed into a lugguage rack) that departed CDF apx 23:55 and arrived BTM 00:55, running via Parkway and calling at all stations bar Pilning.
Title: Re: Take That Post by: Steve Bray on June 15, 2011, 22:25:06 I was reading an article today stating that 100 women were admitted to A&E at Manchester Royal Infirmary after attending their concerts in Manchester to treat injuries including broken wrists and alcohol poisoning. A steward at Eastlands said "Some women were slumped in their seats barely able to walk. It was way worse than a football match"!
(In fairness about half a million people watched the group over eight nights, so the injured were few). Title: Re: Take That Post by: devon_metro on June 15, 2011, 22:38:05 I was on a HST (crammed into a lugguage rack) that departed CDF apx 23:55 and arrived BTM 00:55, running via Parkway and calling at all stations bar Pilning. Sounds like the car was the more sensible option last night then, no complaints of travel chaos from the parents last night - and they were back home by half 12! Title: Re: Take That Post by: phile on June 15, 2011, 22:54:29 Could have been late for Concert, though. Long queues approaching Severn bridge Tolls.

Left at 3pm I think, plenty of time :D Title: Re: Take That Post by: 6 OF 2 redundant adjunct of unimatrix 01 on June 15, 2011, 23:21:39 thats a question, lets throw up a highly unlikely possibility : for some random reason 1000 people buy a ticket for the last train back from barnstaple... no way they will fit on the train... what happens?
Title: Re: Take That Post by: super tm on June 16, 2011, 00:59:59 Wait for the next train ? Seriously such a thing did happen a couple of years ago when one of the Rugby Six nations matches was played at Cardiff late to accomodate the TV schedules. Several hundred people were left behind and had to catch the first train the next day.
Title: Re: Take That Post by: JayMac on June 16, 2011, 05:01:27 Was at Temple Meads last afternoon (15/06) and slightly amused to see the 1521 to Cardiff formed of a 143. Absolutely rammed with Take That fans. Good work done by the staff at BRI directing peeps to the 1530 XC, changing at BPW for CDF. Heard four PA announcements saying that the 1521 was full and directing peeps to platform 3 for the XC. These PAs were backed up by staff on platform 5 patiently telling folks to head to platform 3.
The conductor on the 1521 had to turf 2 peeps off just so he had enough room to board himself!!!!
