Title: More trains for Banbury to Oxford: Post by: Super Sprinter 150 on May 21, 2011, 19:46:47 At the moment intemidiate station between Oxford and Banbury:
Tackley > Heyford > Kings Sutton are getting a train every two hours. There is one train operating only and the whole journey takes less than half and hour. To incourgae more people to travel in and fro the intimediate stations, there needs to be a more frequent service. b) Tackley and Heyford are pretty small places and unlikely to generate a great deal of traffic c) King's Sutton is already served by Chiltern between Banbury and Marylebone d) I suspect the existing two-hourly service runs at a heavy loss in the first place All of which makes me think that this idea has absolutely no chance of flying whatsoever. Sorry. Title: Re: More trains for Banbury to Oxford: Post by: TerminalJunkie on May 21, 2011, 20:03:14 WHAT ARE YOUR VIEWS? I think you ought to stop shouting. It might help if you were able to spell 'intermediate', 'encourage' and 'because'. I also think you should try to get a grip on reality, but I suspect that might be a step too far... There's a very active user group for that part of the Cherwell Valley which you'd have discovered as we're listed on the FGW website. It has done a lot of research on passenger counts / numbers and two-hourly is about right commercially. Off-peak fares have even been negituated on the last peak train from the Valley stations too in recognition of the poor service. Other than slightly more suitable counter-peak timings, there isn't much more the user group can realistically achieve. Of course, if money were mo object, XC services wouldn't run every 30 minutes and freight paths would be all at night, thus allowing a 3-times an hour service so no one would need to use their car to reach Oxford or Banbury. But I've just awoken & I think you need to too. Title: Re: More trains for Banbury to Oxford: Post by: LiskeardRich on May 21, 2011, 22:45:05 the operator would operate this frequency if it was a viable possibility, profit is the aim of business and if there was a profitable opportunity the business would operate it,
