Title: Veolia Transport to close some major depots Post by: anthony215 on March 29, 2011, 21:04:39 Have had word today that Veolia are planning to close their flagship depot in treforest which is where most of teh services in the vallies and cardiff operate from. Was told by management a few days ago that the penclawdd depot was being closed with the council having to put the services back out for tender including the gower explorer services.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-12900079 I know Veolia have lost all of their National express contracts to Edwards coaches who have also started running buses from Beddau to Cardiff & Pontypridd following requests by local people because of the problems with Veolia I can think of a few operators who may be willing to step into take these services some of which are a goldmine particulary during the summer season . One such operator is likely to be South Wales Transport (Neath) although there was word about stagecoach expandng their south wales operations westward. Edwards coaches have said that they will be keeping their service 100E & 400E at the present frequencies, both services could have a increase in passengers once Veolia have withdrawn. First Cymru & Stagecoach are planning a major expansion when Veolia withdraw, maybe since stagecoach are better than First they will take some services in the Bridgend area. Title: Re: Veolia Transport to close some major depots Post by: matt473 on April 09, 2011, 08:58:53 It would be more beneficial in the short term for passangers if First expand as it would link with FGW allowing more bus-rail ticket combinations, potentially allowing for more localised versions in Wales as opposed to the current ^10 bus-rail card that currently exists for the whole region

Stagecoach have started offering railink tickets on most of their bus routes around Aberdare & Porth etc Title: Re: Veolia Transport to close some major depots Post by: devon_metro on April 09, 2011, 23:17:57 Don't Veolia do most of the refuse collection in S Wales?
