Title: Should I receive a discount for my season renewal?
Post by: ChippyAft on March 13, 2011, 11:32:46
I renewed my annual Maidenhead to Paddington (rail only) annual season ticket today. The lady in the ticket office confirmed that there would be a 5% discount available if I renewed my standard class ticket, but not if I wanted the "Eastbound first class" option, as this would not be a "like for like" renewal.

I wanted to check with the experts that she is correct. Details below:

Standard renewal: ^2496; Discounted rate ^2371
Easbound first class: ^2760; discounts do not apply.

Thoughts welcome...

Unfortunately it is true.

To be considered a renewal needs to be like for like.

Just an idea, as I don't know, and imagine it's not allowed.. But if you renewed it as it is now, could you then upgrade it to include First Class for the Eastbound portion? Does anyone know?

It's known as a changeover season ticket, however the way it's worked out is the base rate of what it would have been had they bought it at the time.
