Title: BBC Points West item on campaign to improve train services through Melksham Post by: Chris from Nailsea on February 01, 2011, 03:54:12 I'm starting a new topic on this particular item, as it will only be available on BBC iPlayer until this evening (1 February):
See http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00y5d82/BBC_Points_West_31_01_2011/ from about six minutes in ... ;) :D ;D Title: Re: BBC Points West item on campaign to improve train services through Melksham Post by: Chris from Nailsea on February 01, 2011, 18:16:47 Update:
The BBC iPlayer version of last night's Points West news programme has now expired - but the BBC have put a video news report of this particular item on their website instead (link below). http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/wiltshire/hi/people_and_places/newsid_9383000/9383604.stm Quote Call for extra trains on Wiltshire's lines Commuters in Wiltshire are hopeful the government will bring in extra trains by the end of the year. They say the infrequent services between Westbury and Swindon are hindering investment in towns such as Devizes and Melksham. Their case is being taken to Whitehall, but not everyone is confident it will receive approval. Watch a report from Points West's Scott Ellis. I was on my way to Northern Ireland when the original went out, but had a chance to see it in Points West form via your link. Yesterday - gosh, was it only yesterday - was eventful to put it mildly.

Chris Irwin, chair of TravelWatch SouthWest, very astute and knowledgable, and a signed-up member here. The TransWilts scheme is included in the current work going on for the Greater Bristol area, which includes these Bristol area issues; it's "+ stock" if you look at recent FOI and other releases - you could paraphrase it to say "oy - we need the extra carriages promised". Did you note the "13 carriages" mentioned in the report? This page is printed from the "Coffee Shop" forum at http://gwr.passenger.chat which is provided by a customer of Great Western Railway.
