Quote A teenager has been killed near a rail crossing in South Wales this morning, it is believed. It is understood the boy, believed to be of school age, was struck by the Cardiff to Aberdare train at around 9.30am today. British Transport Police (BTP) and South Wales Police officers were called to the scene near Abercynon Road, Ynysboeth, in the Cynon Valley. A BTP spokesman confirmed a male had been pronounced dead at the scene and officers are working to identify the body. He said: ^BTP officers were called to the rail line near Abercynon Road, Ynysboeth, on Monday, 10 January 2011 following a report of a person being struck by a train. ^BTP and South Wales Police officers attended the incident and discovered the body of a male. "Welsh Ambulance Service paramedics also attended but the male was pronounced dead at the scene. ^The incident was reported to police at 9.33am and is currently being treated as non-suspicious. ^Officers are currently working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, including how the person came to be on the tracks, and anyone with information is asked to contact BTP on Freefone 0800 40 50 40.^ The train involved was the 8:41 Cardiff to Aberdare service. Jack died after being struck by the 8.41am Cardiff to Aberdare train on the railway line near Abercynon Road, Ynysboeth, at around 9.30am on Monday 10 January 2011. His death is currently being treated as non-suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner. In a statement issued today by British Transport Police, Jack's family said the teenager would be sadly missed. The family said: ^We have been devastated by this tragedy and the family is rallying round to support each other at this very difficult time. Jack was a loving, dedicated son, grandson, brother and friend to those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
