Post by: vacman on December 09, 2010, 21:38:59
Cant remember the dates now i'm home but FGW are introducing a special promo fare on the Looe branch from I think 27/12 to 03/01 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first train to Looe, the fare will be ^1.50 for all day travel, and FGW are having a "welcome back" fare on the Newquay branch (think it's next week) after the line was shut when the landslip occured, fares FROM stations on the branch to anywhere in Devon and Cornwall will be half price on Off-Peak Day return fares.
On the Looe branch normal railcard and groupsave discounts will also be available.

In order to welcome back Newquay branch customers to the railway following the recent period of line closure, and by way of compensation, FGW will be offering a 50% discount on Off-Peak Day Return tickets.

^   New ticket type XDR, description ^Promo Day Rtn^, will go on sale on 27 December 27 2010, for travel from 1 January to 28 February 2011
^   It will be valid as an Off-Peak Day Return (CDR), from stations on the branch (Newquay to Luxulyan inclusive) to destinations in Devon and Cornwall (as far east as Tiverton / Axminster)
^   It will be priced at half the CDR price, with the usual child, Railcard and GroupSave discounts
^   It will only be available on Avantix, and should only be sold on the branch
^   The offer will not be available in the reverse direction, i.e. with branch stations as the destination
^   It may also be cheaper for customers making a single journey to purchase a promotional ticket

On 27 December 2010, it will be 150 years since the first train ran from Liskeard to Looe. To mark the event, FGW (in conjunction with the Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership) will be offering half price unlimited travel on the branch.

^   New ticket type LVY, description ^Looe Valley 150^, will go on sale on 17 December 2010, for travel from 27 December 2010 to 3 January 2011
^   It will be valid for a day^s unlimited travel between Liskeard and Looe, and will cost ^1.50, with the usual child, Railcard and GroupSave discounts

Post by: slippy on December 11, 2010, 17:19:49
For January and February CDR fares FROM stations on the Newquay branch will be half price and railcards/group save discounts will still apply to these. Allows a journey as far as Tiverton/Axminster for a bargain price valid on all Newquay services apart from the first round trip on a weekday. Note from next weeks new TT all services are booked to call at Bugle.

Also 50% off the Looe Valley Explorer ticket for the same period as part of GWR150.

Yes: many thanks to Ollie, and slippy, for helping to publicise these promotional offers.  ;)
