Title: Lorry crash causes delays at Maidenhead - 12 November 2010 Post by: Chris from Nailsea on November 12, 2010, 23:26:29 From the Maidenhead Advertiser (http://www.maidenhead-advertiser.co.uk/news/article-18661-breaking-news-lorry-crash-causes-delays/):
Quote A lorry has crashed into the railway bridge in Marlow Road in Maidenhead causing heavy tailbacks. The Mercedes vehicle is stuck under the bridge on the A308 and the road is closed. Police are on the scene directing drivers and have advised motorists to find an alternative route or delay their journey. Trains have also been stopped and a bus replacement service is running between Maidenhead and Marlow. Network Rail have been called out to inspect the bridge for damage and it is anticipated the road will have to remained closed until this has been carried out and the lorry removed. A police spokesman said they were called to the scene at 3.59pm and found a lorry from R McDowell Distribution jammed under the bridge, which has a clearance of 15 feet. He added: "There's a lot of traffic and it's hard to say how long it will take. I anticipate heavy delays."
