Cant see why NR cant let the TOCs do it themselves...... ah yes revenue. Title: Re: Lost Property Post by: inspector_blakey on November 10, 2010, 15:34:53 I will say one thing in defence of NR's lost property arrangements. Finger crossed, I've only ever left two things on trains (a coat and a hoodie). One was an FGW service to Paddington, and I was reunited with my lost item later the same day. Admittedly it cost GBP 3.00, but that was considerably cheaper than buying a replacement given that it was my own fault that I forgot about it.
The second item was left on an XC service that terminated at Paignton, and after a few days of being passed from pillar to post ("FGW might have it, call them", "maybe it hasn't been logged yet", "oh, I see, FGW don't have it, well maybe it's ended up in Leeds/Birmingham/Edinburgh - we don't actually have any lost property office of our own" and so on) I just gave up!
