Title: Failed freight 01 Nov 2010 Post by: tramway on November 01, 2010, 09:14:47 Quote from current running 08:45 Westbury to Gloucester due 10:32 This train will be terminated at Bristol Temple Meads. It will no longer call at: Filton Abbey Wood, Bristol Parkway, Yate, Cam & Dursley and Gloucester. This is due to an earlier broken down train. An additional service is planned to operate at 09:41 Bristol Temple Meads to Gloucester.Last Updated: 01/11/2010 07:57 Not the service I was on but an example of problems this morning. Broke down when it ran out of fuel according to our guard who was late getting to us on the 0701 Tro Cardiff due to being stuck behind it. We were 20 mins late off Temple Meads add that to the 10 min we get there anyway makes for a long journey. >:( >:( Title: Re: Failed freight 01 Nov 2010 Post by: tramway on November 02, 2010, 21:48:36 Apologies for replying to my own post but todays failed freight effort is getting beyond a joke.
That's three failures on three consecutive working days in the Bristol area. Title: Re: Failed freight 01 Nov 2010 Post by: inspector_blakey on November 02, 2010, 22:36:30 Just an educated guess, but it may be loco-hauled goods trains slipping to a stand because of adhesion problems caused by leaf-fall. Must be the absolute height of the season round about now.
Title: Re: Failed freight 01 Nov 2010 Post by: tramway on November 03, 2010, 23:02:12 Not to stop the train for 3 hours I would have thought.

Depends on the next spare :o driver who can rescue the failure? Of course in the bad old days, any loco and driver would have sent off Bath road to push the Filton failure to Bristol Parkway, but that's progress ;) This page is printed from the "Coffee Shop" forum at http://gwr.passenger.chat which is provided by a customer of Great Western Railway.
