Title: REally weird thing - advance fare tomorrow to didcot then return
Post by: Mookiemoo on October 26, 2010, 15:54:55
Ok, so earlier today I was looking for an advance fair for the 0644 from nailsea returning on the 1957 from reading but only needed tickets to didcot as already have a reading didcot return.

Found a combination that was ^52 and change first class with my rail card.  Was surprised as advances on the morning 0644 are rare as hens teeth.  Ok, no need to stay at friends tonight I thought.

hmmmm - wonder if I can get anything cheaper if I split at say chippenham or swindon - so tried it.  Nada. ok, good price for peak journey.

Re-entered the details - nailsea to didcot the same price but the evening return dropped from ^17.xx to ^11.xx taking the fare down to less than 50.

Whis was using xc booking site.

Can anyone explain that one?  And no, I didnt make a mistake with the details entered in either case.
