Title: Hayle Viaduct
Post by: chrisoates on September 14, 2010, 01:23:43
Been reading in the local papers about a Hayle chap observing movement in one of the piers - went through on the bus today and he's not wrong.

From Penzance to Camborne direction - there are two piers supporting the track as it passes over the road on the station side - one pier back in the Penzance direction...looks like it'll be in Hayle harbour quite soon - the lean angle is quite alarming !!

Just had a quick look on the web...it would appear that at least one of the piers of the viaduct has been leaning somewhat since the 1970s, which presumably would suggest that the problem isn't recent or considered serious enough to require any remedial work. Does look odd though.
