Title: Railway explosives stolen in Bridgnorth safe theft Post by: Chris from Nailsea on September 10, 2010, 17:58:57 From the BBC (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-shropshire-11247673):
Quote Explosives used to alert train drivers of dangers have been stolen from a station in Shropshire. Thieves took a safe containing the explosives from Bridgnorth Railway Station earlier. Inside were four metal tubes, each containing 12 detonators, which could cause serious injury if not operated by a trained professional, police said. The detonators are yellow discs with lead ties that secure them to the track. Sgt Steven Fitzpatrick, of West Mercia Police, said: "These detonators can be activated by pressure or flame and could pose a serious risk to whoever might try and open the safe by force. "They could also be a hazard to the general public if whoever stole them manages to get them out of the safe but then just dumps them somewhere. "If anyone comes across such items, do not touch them, move away and contact police immediately."
