Title: Taxis in the nailsea area.....or lack thereof Post by: Mookiemoo on September 05, 2010, 16:33:46 Today is only the second time I've had to book a cab, the other was also a late Sunday afternoon.
They seem to be an endangered species. Is there some sort of local cult gathering on Sunday evenings that require all available taxis to be booked out - finally got one on the 9th company I tried Title: Re: Taxis in the nailsea area.....or lack thereof Post by: John R on September 05, 2010, 18:01:10 Two events in Bristol today (half marathon and Kite Festival at Ashton Court) could mean the local firms are busy in that direction. Though that's just a guess.
Title: Re: Taxis in the nailsea area.....or lack thereof Post by: inspector_blakey on September 05, 2010, 23:44:10 From having lived out that way in the past I seem to remember it being a bit of a pain in the backside trying to book taxis - fine if you're in Bristol city centre and want to get home (although certainly not cheap) but if you're trying to get a taxi from somewhere over the bridge in North Somerset the unless you booked well ahead of time forget it. Had a similar problem on a few occasions trying to book customers a taxi from Bitton, even at what you would have thought were quiet times.
Just seems to be that there aren't that many local taxi firms and those that there are apparently have more than enough business to keep them going! May also be of course that the local taxi drivers by and large choose to take Sundays off and concentrate on the more lucrative times like Friday/Saturday nights.
