Title: Thames Rangers and Rovers
Post by: JayMac on August 30, 2010, 20:51:02
Can any of our FGW staff with access to The Manual confirm to me the restriction code for the following:

Thames Branches Day Ranger.
Thames Rover 3 Days.
Thames Rover 7 Days.

I have a .pdf of the Rovers and Rangers information as extracted from NFM06 (yes they are in there, but well hidden apparently!) and I want to see if the information concurs with The Manual now and from 5th September.

Hey Bignosemac

I have taken this up with fare expert Barry Doe recently!

There is huge conflict regarding the restrictions according to where you look:

If you look on the National Rail Website then the restrictions are different to those found in the NFM and those on the FGW website.

Barry was going to take this up with ATOC to ensure there is some consistency.

The am restrictions as I read it are the same as for CDR.  Likewise there can be no use on long distance trains between Pad and Rdg:

Not sure whether this helps or muddies the water  ;)

Precisely why I was asking what the latest entries in The Manual said.

It appears that the public information is contradictory. FGW's website lists the bar on evening high-speed services out of Paddington or Reading. National Rail Enquiries makes no mention of the evening bar and NFM 06 gives the restriction code B1.

Restriction : B1
OUTWARD TRAVEL
By any train except those
timed to depart Mondays to
Fridays before 0930

RETURN TRAVEL
By any train

Now I know I've brought this up before, but I'm planning a railabout on the FGW network for late October (it would've been an All-Line jolly but I cannot afford it this year) and I want to maximise travel opportunites and minimise cost, without incurring excess fares or UPFNs, or worst case scenario an MG11.

So I was kinda hoping that all information sources were saying the same thing on these tickets post 5th September. But it appears not, so it's the fallback position of 'Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts' legislation.

NFM07 does show the correct restrictions.  Has a full list of services in the evening peak when it is NOT valid.

That's the extracted Rovers and Rangers data in NFM07 is it. Or the information from The Manual? Can you provide a screencap?
