A few pictures from a recent day trip. With thanks to my travelling companion, new forum member, robert.nash for taking them - I'd forgotton my camera!

Now - are you sure about number 4?

4. Correct. I have said in the past that I wouldn't include pictures of that station, but in my defence I didn't actually snap it!

And a warm welcome to the Coffee Shop robert.nash  ;D

Many thanks for the welcome.

Any thoughts on Number 3 yet? My original thought was that I wouldn't want to leave the station via that door in a hurry (which did look perfectly possible when we saw the inside of it).

An addendum to Number 3. At the same location just round the corner from the door with the mahoosive doorstep was this stairway to nowhere.....

I am fairly sure that No.5 is Sutton Harbour in Plymouth.

Hi BB - I think that counts as close enough for number 5.

Correct B_B. Plymouth's Barbican is a perfect place to sit and people watch of a summer's evening.

...and No.2 looks remarkably like the footbridge immediately south of Dawlish Warren station.

Yes indeed B_B

I was going to answer 5, but I was beaten to the post. 3 looks like Dawlish to me.

spot on there d_m

So in summary we have

1 __________________
2 Dawlish Warren
3 Dawlish
4 Taunton
5 Plymouth Harbour

Any suggestions on number 1?

Might help if you think about the round trip we took from number 4

In picture No.1 the reddish-brown masonry is from the 'Exeter Volcanic Traps' and is a very common local building material. Given your route and the nature of the structure I am going to suggest that this is street level at Exeter St.Thomas.

Afraid you're going to have to think again B_B - it's not Exeter.

Excellent analysis of the type of stone used in picture 1 B_B. I'm no expert in geology but I'd guess that the colour of the stone is down to volcanic conditions rather than atmospheric conditions....

After a little more thought, and investigation, I am absolutely certain that I have cracked this one! - I believe this is one of the entrance doors to the Brunel Atmospheric Railway Pumping House at Starcross.

BTW the colour of the building stone is largely due to a very high iron content.

He shoots....... he scores! No. 1 Correct.

However.....my next pic quiz will have to include the rule of 1 guess per person. At least for the first 24 hours. Give everyone a chance to guess.  ;)
