I'll try to get back on to follow up as guesses get posted, but there's all sorts of things going on (away from the tracks and rail stuff) so please excuse me if the service isn't as crisp as usual.

2.  Kingswear.

Bit of a quandry there ... sort of.   I should have asked "which stations were these pictures taken at" ...

Is the first one Salisbury by any chance?

Yes, you should!  ;) :D ;D

It's Kingswear, across the River Dart, but taken at Dartmouth.

Picture was taken in Dartmouth Station.

Hmmm ... I think I prefer a pedantic admin to getting someone else's gum stuck to the bottom of my shoes, but I guess there's no accounting for taste ;)

Thanks, grahame!  ;D

Actually, on a slightly more serious note: Dartmouth Station is quite interesting, for various rather odd reasons: see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dartmouth_railway_station  :)

No 5. Paignton. The terminus of the Dartmouth Steam Railway.

No. 5, yes, is Paignton

No. 1, sorry - not Salisbury

And Dartmouth Station is indeed interesting. Can anyone tell me when a train last called there?

Seriously number 1 Taunton?

Um.... never? Plenty of connecting ferries though! Up until 30th December 1972, according to Wikipedia. The passenger ferry now calls at a pontoon further down river.

"Never" and "Taunton" ... both correct.  I make it (3) and (4) to go.

4.  Westbury.

4.  Westbury.

Correct ... and I expected (3) to go very easily but it's the last one left!

3 is Newton Abbot, however I should add that I knew all 5 ;)

The foot passenger ferry still goes from the pontoon just near to the grockel fest that is 'Dartmouth' station.

It is indeed ... yes - I were "down your way!" ...

I stand corrected ;). 'grockel fest' is a bit strong though. I had a cracking cream tea in 'Dartmouth Station' last year.

Oh, hang on, we were visiting, so I guess that did mean we were grockles (http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/page/192). I have, however, never worn a knotted handkerchief on my head!

You'll soon become bitter to grockels when you sit in endless traffic jams and work in the tourist trade ;)

Thats not very nice.  You work in the tourist trade so if the grockels stop coming you would be out of a job !
