4.  Bath Spa.

Edit:  No, it's not Bath Spa. Sorry!  :-[

Nice to see you tackling the difficult one first, Chris!  ;) ;D

You reckon it is Bath Spa?  I thought there were all these silly signs on the stairs at Bath Spa - blue arrows on the left, red no entry ones on the right?

Well - you're right in one of those - either it is Bath Spa, or it isn't.   Which are you thinking in the end  :D

No, it's definitely Platform 1 at Bath Spa. Few clues: Bath stone, students and the Bath Tourism office.

No 1. Romsey?

4. Bath
Now what about those two between?

Is 3. Bicton Gardens?

Sorry, Phil ... it isn't;  we travelled a very different direction from Westbury!

3 - Shiplake? In the gardens of Mr Schwarzenbach's magnificent house?

Of course! See http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/coffeeshop/index.php?topic=6472.msg64158#msg64158 for more details.  ;)

Yes indeed ... taken from the Thames Path which runs alongside.  Which should lead you folks to be able to place number 2 quite easily.  As an extra clue, there was another picture posted on this forum taken from just a few yards away within the last couple of days.

2 must be the cable ducting at Twyford under the new footbridge then?

It is indeed ... isn't it spectacular.  I really wonder if all the stuff couldn't be controlled by wifi and leave just the power cables, at suitably high voltage to discourage vandalism / theft.

Those 158s (or are they 159s...?) in picture 1 must make an awful noise when they screech round that curve in picture 3.

So wanted to answer Number 3 but I thought I'd wait and see how long it was before someone else got it.

Nice walk that, from Henley-on-Thames to Shiplake. I've done the same myself and also spotted the miniature railway. Oh, and you're right grahame, as mentioned on your blog, about the black Labradors of Henley!

Another nice Thames Path walk is Pangbourne to Tilehurst. Perfect for walking off the fillet steak from the The Swan, Pangbourne (http://www.swanpangbourne.com/)! (Dogs welcome!)

Sounds good. Perhaps we should arrange a Thamesside walk for Coffee Shop members and their hounds ...

Hopefully that doesn't exclude those who happen to be houndless?!

Absolutely it doesn't.   Looking at my diary, I like the look of Saturday 21st August.  Long days, and the weekend before the boat rally and pop festival.    Phil - 09:20 from Melksham, 10:51 to Tilehurst ... 14:27 back, 15:45 into Melksham.   Fare shows up as 38 pounds if you look at it "straight", but a split at Didcot gives you 12.20 + 4.50 = 16.70 and we get four of us we can groupsave on that and do it at 8.35 a head  ;D  . We have houseguests on the Friday night but as they're leaving on the 09:20 as well ... we might even persuade them to change their plans and join us.
