Title: Line problem in Radley area causing widespread disruption (28 June 2010)

From FGW live updates:

Line incident

Line problem in the Radley area.

Train services between Didcot Parkway and Oxford have been disrupted due to an earlier broken down train in the Radley area. Engineers have worked as fast as possible to restore services to normal. Short notice alterations and delays of up to 30 minutes may still occur.

I won't list all the individual services affected, but they include many of those between Paddington and Banbury, Oxford and Great Malvern.

Only affected northbound services, with the 05.48 to Worcester terminated at Reading, and other services to Oxford and Banbury turned back at Didcot until the line was cleared.

Thanks, willc.  The FGW live updates indicates disruption in both directions, though?

This train has been cancelled. This is due to an earlier broken down train. Last Updated: 28/06/2010 07:05

I'd assume out of position trains that didn't make it up to great Malvern earlier on

Arrived at Maidenhead a bit early for the 08:00 fast Paddington this morning- was treated to the 07:06 pulling in at 07:49- not often that huge delays work to your advantage  ;D

HST that forms the 0558(?) from Oxford sat down at Kennington en route to Oxford for 70 mins with loss of air. So trains that should have turned round at Oxford didn't, because they could not get there. Hence the reference to both directions.
