Title: Lineside fire at Redruth
Post by: James158 on June 26, 2010, 21:15:02
A lineside fire at Redruth is severely disrupting services to/from Penzance. Severe delays of up to 90 minutes are occuring, with some train services running 2 hours late.

From the FGW website:-

Line problem between Camborne and Truro. Train services have been disrupted due to an earlier line-side fire between Camborne and Truro. Delays of up to 50 minutes can be expected.

Well slippy you will notice that over 4 hours before your post Chris agreed with devon_metro that it was unrelated.

I see that this morning, that definately wasn't showing when I looked in the early hours..... Or had I had one pint to many? Steam 09:02 ex Penzance tomorrow morning, should cause a few more fires....

... that definately wasn't showing when I looked in the early hours..... Or had I had one pint to many? ...

Point of information ... if anyone (including admins and moderators) go back and edit a post that's more than a few minutes old, a note is added to the post to say it's happened.  None of us has tools to prevent it;  technically, I could directly access the database tables to "fix" them - but have never done so.   So it comes down to you being dog-tired and half asleep, or (as you suggest) slightly tipsy, slippy.

Even with the note that changes have been made later, altering posts significantly later is something that's high on the list of things that makes the moderator team cringe.  It's OK if you post something up and spot a typing mistake when you call the thread back up (I'm forever doing that!) but if the change is late enough for the system to flag it, then it's also late enough for others to have read it, and it's a great help to have a reason added in to say what / why you edited.  And once your post has been followed up, changing it can alter the whole context of the thread.  So please don't, except in the most carefully considered of circumstances.

watering stop at St.Austell @10.00, I wonder if the organisers know that the hydrant that was used previously has now gone after the rebuilding of the car park!!!

I suspect there may be a water tanker lurking in the car park prior to the arrival of the kettles.
