Title: Line problem between Bath Spa and Westbury Post by: James158 on June 11, 2010, 18:14:05 Line problem between Bath Spa and Westbury.
Train services between Bath Spa and Westbury are being disrupted due to emergency engineering work due to a track problem at Trowbridge. Network Rail are carrying out emergency engineering work on the line at Trowbridge. Network Rail are working as fast as possible to restore services to normal. Delays can be expected. This is affecting services badly with the 14:51 Great Malvern to Weymouth terminated at Bristol Temple Meads. It will no longer call at: Keynsham, Oldfield Park, Bath Spa, Freshford, Avoncliff, Bradford-On-Avon, Trowbridge, Westbury, Frome, Bruton, Castle Cary, Yeovil Pen Mill, Thornford, Yetminster, Chetnole, Maiden Newton, Dorchester West, Upwey and Weymouth. I expect this will affect the 20:21 Weymouth to Bristol Temple Meads as this is the same train they use. 20:21 Weymouth to Bristol Temple Meads will probably be cancelled due to the cancellation of the service down. Unless they use the 20:08 arrival from Gloucester but I doubt that very much as that train is used in the morning. FGW may lay on road transport to Westbury where passengers can connect with a train to Bristol Temple Meads. 15:08 Weymouth to Gloucester due 18:32 This train will be terminated at Bristol Temple Meads (arrived 18:06) It will no longer call at: Filton Abbey Wood, Bristol Parkway, Yate, Cam & Dursley and Gloucester. This is due to safety checks having been made earlier. London Paddington services are making additional stops at Keynsham and Oldfield Park to try to ease the problem. 18:42 Gloucester to Frome due 20:47 starts at Bristol Temple Meads at 19:49. It will no longer call at: Gloucester, Cam & Dursley, Yate, Bristol Parkway, Filton Abbey Wood, Stapleton Road and Lawrence Hill. This is due to safety checks having been made earlier. I will update you on this disruption when information is available. I will be interested to know what will happen to the 20:21 Weymouth to Bristol Temple Meads. UPDATE 20:08 arrival at Weymouth from Gloucester is running very late and only just departed from Westbury 63 mins late. It will not arrive at Weymouth until 21:12. 20:21 Weymouth to Bristol Temple Meads is showing as ''on time'' according to the Weymouth live departure board but it will depart late as the 20:08 is very late arriving. This train will either be cancelled or very late departing as they have no other trains to use for this service apart from the train from Gloucester that arrives at 21:12. This train eventually departed Weymouth 58 mins late at 21:19. It seems the track problem has turned to signalling problems: UPDATE from FGW Website:- Line problem between Bath Spa and Westbury. Train services between Bath Spa and Westbury are being disrupted due to signalling problems. Engineers are working as fast as possible to restore services to normal. Delays of up to 15 minutes can be expected. Title: Re: Line problem between Bath Spa and Westbury Post by: James158 on June 11, 2010, 18:36:33 Thanks Chris. Hope you wasn't delayed too badly.
From the BBC Travel News Website:- Delays of up to 50 minutes between Castle Cary and Bath Spa due to emergency engineering works and a signalling problem at Trowbridge. Network Rail are probably fixing a piece of broken track like you said Chris there was track problems. This has now lead to signalling problems. Title: Re: Line problem between Bath Spa and Westbury Post by: Chris from Nailsea on June 11, 2010, 18:52:35 Thanks, James158 - and welcome to the Coffee Shop forum! :)
Actually, my own journey wasn't delayed at all: I got the 17:25 BRI to WSM, which was on time (unlike the 17:18, which was still 'expected at 17:23' as we departed!). However, the 17:25, being the first commuter service westbound, and being a 143, was absolutely crammed - even leaving people behind. Title: Re: Line problem between Bath Spa and Westbury Post by: Timmer on June 11, 2010, 19:27:38 I wish I went to Weymouth now as I find disruptions exciting and I don't mind being on a Rail Replacement. I think you might be in the minority a bit on this one James158 but travel on the UK rail network long enough and you are bound to bump into some kind of disruption from time to time. Travelling on rail replacement buses is my idea of nothing to do as I can't stand coaches.Enjoy your trip to Weymouth. Weather is looking good for tomorrow 12/6. Would like to say I hope you find some disruption to your journey but I don't think your fellow passengers would appreciate that very much.
