5 looks like the old Red Star Parcels office at Oxford (now used as a base for the Rail Gourmet trolley services I think)

Correct. Not clear in the re-sized image, but you can still see the feint impression of the 'Lynx Express' logo and the words 'Parcels Point' on the canopy.

My initial reaction was that 3 is Temple Meads, but on second thoughts I'm less sure.

I just knew someone would flag up the 'GWR territory' thing! Should've included the word 'former' but I was feeling devilish.  :P ;D

....and Chris, I used exactly the same map to double check on Wolverhampton!

That was my exact-same initial reaction, James!  It's very similar architecture - mock-gothic-Victorian.  No idea where it actually is, though!  ::)

Again, another bit of slight devilry..... superficially it is very similar to Temple Meads and I suspected I may get Bristol TM as an answer......  ;D

Imagine how many staff and trains would be needed to run the FGW frachise over all those old lines!

A class 143 on a FGW Liverpool - Penzance service would be a highlight!!   ;D

2 is Temple Meads

Correct. Class 150 in the bay next to Platform 2.

Is 8 Hereford?

Correct.

So....... just 1 and 3 left to guess.

Correct, and welcome to the forum jdw. Most folks normally start with a question as their first post. You started with an answer!!

1 is obviously somewhere in the old Network South East area given the clock... Time for a completely random guess - Slough.

Hi

Is it Banbury?

Correct. And the 'strangest old woman that you ever saw' from the "I rode a cock horse to Banbury Cross" nursery rhyme may be alive and well. She appears in a 'Stations Made Easy' picture for Banbury Station (http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations/sjp/BAN/objectvalues/1137-0000019.html) on the National Rail Enquiries website:
