Title: What is the cheapest fare out of marylebone to anywhere
Post by: Mookiemoo on April 16, 2010, 14:37:19
For the purpose of getting through the barrier at 1800.

Thats it

I've been playing with journey planner for ages but its now getting tedious with the new layout

I assume that you want to go through the barrier just to see someone off and are not travelling.  In that case, might yu not be better buying an expensive ticket which offers a full refund if you don't travel?????

About ^ 2.45 to Wembley Statdium with a railcard, 5p cheaper to Harrow on the Hill after 7pm or a small random ammount using an Oyster card (especially if there has been other travelling...)

If you just wish to access the platform, ask for a platform ticket as some stations still do this

Tell the barrier staff that you're travelling with Wrexham and Shropshire.

They have to let you through because W&S allow you to buy tickets onboard (this advice is put on their website).

What are you doing, anyway?

Going home wrexham and shropshire

And whilst that is their stance - the stazi at Marylebone are often less than willing to let you through!

note - I have to get back to ludlow

The 1722 involves a long wait at hereford unless you miraculously make the train before it

The 1822 gets me home at about 2230

Going via newport is extortionate in the peak

For not much difference in cost I can go home W&S, get fed and get home at 2230!

Ok, just buy your ticket beforehand.

I can't see why you'd buy a ticket, just so you can get through the barriers to buy onboard!

Am I missing something? ???

Am I missing something? ???

Yes, a certain discount on an un-discountable ticket.

except w&s have always legitimately allowed it - you can get it off the website discounted, for example. And the phone line says (or at least did as of last week) they allow it.

But only if you buy from them outright. If you get a standard then try to on train upgrade they don't allow it
