Title: 5 mph speed restriction at Newton Abbot Post by: woody on April 11, 2010, 19:28:20 Anyone know whats the reason is for the 5mph speed restriction through Newton Abbot station on the down side at the moment.
Title: Re: 5 mph speed restriction at Newton Abbot Post by: inspector_blakey on April 12, 2010, 03:17:23 It's only an educated guess but it may be indicative of a fairly serious PW fault. There are a range of things that a maintenance supervisor can stick a 5 mph TSR on to enable traffic to continue until a repair can be arranged.

I believe the 'V' in the points (where the rails cross over each other) has failed a routine ultrasonic test and requires replacement. Some of the sleepers / bearers at the points (1987 or so) don't look that clever either.Title: Re: 5 mph speed restriction at Newton Abbot Post by: woody on May 02, 2010, 22:01:21 I see that 5mph speed restriction at Newton has now been lifted. Was there yesterday but gone today.
