Title: Future of early morning commuting from Nailsea? Post by: NailseaCommuter on September 18, 2007, 19:07:23 Hello -
On my regular early morning Nailsea-Patchway commute today, some of the people who got on at Parkway were muttering that the train will be cancelled in the December timetable change. I didn't have time to investigate, so does anyone know if there's truth in this? I'm likely to go back to using the car if this happens. The train in question is 05:26 Taunton (skipped) 06:19 Nailsea & Backwell (skipped) 06:46 Bristol Parkway (skipped) 07:30 Cardiff Central Title: Re: Future of early morning commuting from Nailsea? Post by: paulsouthwales on September 18, 2007, 20:41:50 Have you checked NRES online? The new TT is now online. Type in a date in the first week of the TT change, and you can get journey details. Obviously check with FGW or NRES closer to the time!
From what I have found out by exploring NRES online, there seems to be many more regular Taunton - Cardiff direct services in the new TT. It seems the Taunton - Cheltenham/Great Malvern services are being rerouted after Filton AW to Cardiff, with a Wiltshire service replacing the current Taunton service above Filton AW. Looks like the axes for Cross-Bristol services are changing. Again though this is only what I have observed, and best to check this out with FGW or NRES. On Monday 10th December, the earliest connection will get me to Patchway about 50 minutes later than at present. I guess FGW really don't want my business. Title: Re: Future of early morning commuting from Nailsea? Post by: Lee on September 19, 2007, 11:03:46 As an aside :
Keynsham - Patchway daytime connections are generally awful , with a wait of 53 minutes at Bristol Temple Meads. Patchway - Keynsham daytime connections are nearly as bad , with a wait of 40 minutes at Filton Abbey Wood. So much for the original promise of "improved Cross - Bristol services." The OJP for this date is not officially public so there are plenty of gaps in the service. Take the 0730 padd-penz! Title: Re: Future of early morning commuting from Nailsea? I have checked , and the 0730 does actually appear in the OJP. This page is printed from the "Coffee Shop" forum at http://gwr.passenger.chat which is provided by a customer of Great Western Railway.
