Not the Stroudwater, but the Severn and Thames Canal: it's the Daneway portal of the Sapperton Canal Tunnel. More details are on wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sapperton_Canal_Tunnel). By the way, I can heartily recommend the pub where we had lunch yesterday, if anyone finds themself in that area: the Daneway Inn (http://www.thedaneway.com/). Excellent beer and food!
