Blatant trying to kill off the use of this line. They could have done something one year on but clearly have no intention of doing anything and had no intention in the first place hence the useless times they came up with to begin with. I feel for all of you who have campaigned to get things changed. Dont give up.

Proof if one needed it that FGW are the uncaring, unlistening cowboy train operator we all know they are.

Proof if one needed it that FGW are the uncaring, unlistening cowboy train operator we all know they are.

If you look at Sundays, though, there does appear to be one extra service - Southbound - at least on 9th December.  On that day there are services to Chippenham at 17:22 and 19:54, and a service that arrives from Chippenham at 18:51.    That's significant -  a southbound Sunday service being restored.  "The longest journey starts with but a single step".

Can't say about Saturdays yet ... the first Saturday of the new timetable isn't yet within the 3 month range on the web site.

I'm not sure I would go along with your comment of proof - but I would agree with you if you suggested that the news confirms that all the parties involved who want an improvement haven't been effective enough in their actions to bring it about.   The Dft, the County Council and FGW did hatch a plan to improve things somewhat, especially in the morning peak, and we were told about that back in May, at a meeting of the Melksham Railway Development Group by the local First Great Western Manager. However, we were informed a while later that the plan had floundered because Network rail could/would not make the paths available.

The door is NOT closed for December '08.  We're in the process of putting together a watertight case.   You'll note that the campaign hasn't faded away  ;)
