Title: Re: Best Unstaffed station in Cornwall Post by: Phil on December 24, 2009, 06:40:29 Define "best"?
Do you mean in terms of facilities, services, location, information, view from the platform, best car park, best paint job, what? Title: Re: Best Unstaffed station in Cornwall Post by: grahame on December 24, 2009, 07:54:17 There are quite a few unstaffed stations missing from that list ... or were the options you've given to us to vote for selected by some other criteria as well as just being "unstaffed"? It's a long time (a very long time since I went by rail beyond Plymouth, but I know that the station I would go for ain't listed :-\
P.S. If you add the other stations in, for statistical accuracy you'll need to reset the poll counters too. Title: Re: Best Unstaffed station in Cornwall Post by: JayMac on December 24, 2009, 08:00:04 Maybe I'd vote for Menheniot if it were on the list ;) ;D
Title: Re: Best Unstaffed station in Cornwall Post by: signalandtelegraph on December 24, 2009, 08:03:39 Coombe Junction surely? ;D
Title: Re: Best Unstaffed station in Cornwall Post by: Henry on December 24, 2009, 08:10:15 I'd agree with that S&T. Beautiful rural quiet setting with no pesky light/noise pollution. Title: Re: Best Unstaffed station in Cornwall Post by: John R on December 24, 2009, 09:30:08 or passengers ;D ;D
Title: Re: Best Unstaffed station in Cornwall Post by: eightf48544 on December 24, 2009, 10:14:58 As far as I'm concerned any unstaffed station is dead. So by definition they are all bad.
Title: Re: Best Unstaffed station in Cornwall Post by: devon_metro on December 24, 2009, 10:29:17 Quite like Carbis Bay, nice view. Then again it's probably the only unstaffed station in Cornwall i've been too exept Lelant Saltings.
Devon prize has to go to Newton St Cyres ;) Title: Re: Best Unstaffed station in Cornwall Post by: Branch Line Connor on December 24, 2009, 17:17:41 Maybe I'd vote for Menheniot if it were on the list ;) ;D Oh dear.. The shame I feel. ;DTitle: Re: Best Unstaffed station in Cornwall Post by: Branch Line Connor on December 24, 2009, 18:41:31 Lets clear something up vote on the best unstaffed station from that list! I know there not all of the unstaffed stations in Cornwall. Based on all things you can think of!
Title: Re: Best Unstaffed station in Cornwall Post by: Chris from Nailsea on December 30, 2009, 22:06:29 Hmm. I have to say, Branch Line Connor, that "based on all things I can think of", I still cannot vote for any one of those stations in your poll.
They all have merits - but they also have problems - some of which may well be the result of them being unstaffed stations. If I were to be asked to nominate my own favourite unstaffed station in Cornwall, based entirely on my personal opinion, it would be Penmere. However, I'm not sure how that fits in with the purpose of your survey. ;) Title: Re: Best Unstaffed station in Cornwall Post by: The Tall Controller on December 30, 2009, 22:28:17 Dont know why Quintrell Downs deserves a vote, best one on the newquay line in my opinion is Roche.
Out of the ones listed, all of them have their bad points for various reasons. My vote would be for Coombe Junction despite the fact that half of it has dissapeared! ;D This page is printed from the "Coffee Shop" forum at http://gwr.passenger.chat which is provided by a customer of Great Western Railway.
