Title: No parking left - too many trains ! Post by: Mookiemoo on November 20, 2009, 20:28:23 Can any one enlighten me as to how they resolved tonights mishap.
1722 terminated at wos after driver ran a red signal at a level crossing and was shaken up. Being taken into sidings at wos to depart around 2220 back to pad. 1751 not terminated and running through except it's parking space is occupied Title: Re: No parking left - too many trains ! Post by: Chris from Nailsea on November 20, 2009, 20:59:34 Just to clarify, FallenAngel: it was a car driver, not the train driver, who 'ran a red signal'?
Title: Re: No parking left - too many trains ! Post by: Ollie on November 20, 2009, 21:30:53 I don't have diagrams handy, but is it possible the 17:51 goes empty to Foregate Street to form the 20:59 back to Paddington?

Dont think so, because then the 1822 cant get through to hereford Title: Re: No parking left - too many trains ! Post by: Mookiemoo on November 20, 2009, 22:26:54 Just to clarify, FallenAngel: it was a car driver, not the train driver, who 'ran a red signal'? Ok, I typed the last from my iphone so it was a bit brief. From what a few regulars were told by the TM and the customer host. The previous signal was "green" (in laymans terms). Driver rounded a bend and the signal was apparently red when it should not have been. As a passenger I noticed extreme breaking but assumed it was bad traction. Next the "can the train manager contact the driver" came over the tannoy. Next we knew was at evesham and they were on the phone to control (I was in F) saying the driver was not feeling well after the incident and what were they to do about staff and taxis. Asked what had happened. This is ONLY WHAT I WAS TOLD and overheard The previous signal was green, the one before the crossing was red - driver slammed on the breaks. Signal man apparently (according to the overheard conversation) would claim "well I thought I saw something on the crossing" Whether any of that should have been said in front of half a train load of people is not my concern. So yes, the driver as far as I was hearing 0 ran a red light but it was not the drivers fault on first appearances. Undobtedly the incident will be investigated and it will all come out in the wash Still does not explain where they parked the 1751 Title: Re: No parking left - too many trains ! Post by: roganguk on November 20, 2009, 22:44:44 This incident occured just as I was about to leave tonight. Some of what Fallen Angel has said is true, but it is more complicated. There will be an investigation. A relief driver came up on 1W09 to work the return 1P90 back from Shrub Hill. Must admit, I did not think about where they laid over the stock, but I will find out tomorrow
Title: Re: No parking left - too many trains ! Post by: Mookiemoo on November 20, 2009, 22:50:16 However I do not want the TM or CH getting in trouble for being honest.......
As passengers we appreciated knowing vaguely what had happened rather than we're late and terminating at WOS for operating reasons As someone who is probably more aware than many passengers I had begun to suspect somthing was amiss by Evesham but not exactly what Title: Re: No parking left - too many trains ! Post by: Mookiemoo on November 20, 2009, 23:09:43 However...
"21:53 Hereford to London Paddington due 01:11 This train will be started from Worcester Shrub Hill.It will no longer call at: Hereford, Ledbury, Colwall, Great Malvern and Worcester Foregate Street. This is due to earlier signalling problems. Last Updated: 20/11/2009 19:47 " Nice - just another signal malfunction........... Title: Re: No parking left - too many trains ! Dont think so, because then the 1822 cant get through to hereford I think we had a thread about this a few days back. 1751 terminates at Shrub Hill then goes into sidings to allow 1822 to get past then goes to Foregate Street and starts from there Title: Re: No parking left - too many trains !
