Title: 0840 Plymouth - Paddington 15/11/2009
Post by: Henry on November 15, 2009, 18:08:18

 RANT ALERT !

Waiting at Totnes for this service to Exeter this morning.

The dreaded delay and wait for further information comes up on the information screens, to be later advised that their is 'debris' on the line.
I can appreciate that due to the weather yesterday, and this is the first train up that these things will happen.
We are then alerted that trains are on the move running 40 minutes late.

So a certain amount of relief as we realise we are on the move, notify colleagues at Exeter I'm running late.

 THE TRAIN IS THEN CANCELLED.

Waiting at Totnes for the next train to Exeter, as the Plymouth-Paddington goes thundering through on the up fast, not stopping at Totnes because it
might not make it up Dainton bank.
Apparently it never made it up Hemerdon either and had to return to Plymouth to have another 'run' up the bank.

So you have to ask, Was their debris on the line ?

Wouldn't happen on a modern railway.

Leaves on the line causing atrocious conditions.

Yesterdays 1737 Penz - Padd arrived into London at 3am this morning as it slipped on both Hemerdon AND Dainton.
