'Intrest' indeed ;D Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: Chris from Nailsea on November 14, 2009, 13:09:47 Why not just simplify it to read, 'For your safety please do not use your mobile phone on the stairs'?
It's a valid message, too, bearing mind the poor chap at Ealing who was apparently using his mobile, walked too near the edge of the platform and was sucked under a train. :o Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: 6 OF 2 redundant adjunct of unimatrix 01 on November 14, 2009, 13:57:36 how long before some one trips or slips due to reading this while walking down the stairs?
Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: Chris from Nailsea on November 14, 2009, 23:48:00 Another one - in three parts:
1. Where was this picture taken? ;) 2. What is the mistake in the wording? :D 3. What was the name of the pigeon / seagull who criticized it so appropriately? ;D (http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/6717/picture047i.jpg) Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: thetrout on November 15, 2009, 20:02:44 Bath Spa...?
Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: Chris from Nailsea on November 16, 2009, 02:34:42 Yes, photo taken at the western end of the down platform. ;)
I'll let you off naming the naughty bird - but the mistake in the wording is ... ?? ;D Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: inspector_blakey on November 16, 2009, 03:24:29 Apart from the mention of class 180 trains, I'm guessing it's the slightly alarming statement that the train will be on the platform for two minutes.
If they can get it off the platform and back off the rails in that short a space of time I'm impressed. Shades of the old joke "The next train to arrive on platform 8 will be the 1135 service to Birmingham New Street; passengers on platforms 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11 and 12 please stand clear as this train will be coming in sideways". Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: thetrout on November 16, 2009, 10:20:48 Judging by the spread of the apparant splatter... :o I would estimate the bird in question to be of the large variety travelling towards the Bear Flat area of Bath... Possibly just alighted the 11:25 Service... Possibly a faredodging bird as he clearly didn't go through the ticket barriers in the Station Entrance... ;D
So this leads me to believe, It was none other than Bob the Seagull... ;D Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: Chris from Nailsea on November 16, 2009, 22:49:31 ;D
The last five words on that notice ... doesn't anyone check such text, before it's turned into a laminated poster, preserving the author's careless mistake for posterity ... ? ::) Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: JayMac on November 16, 2009, 23:50:12 Chris. Thank you for you spotting of the error. :D
Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: Chris from Nailsea on November 16, 2009, 23:57:36 No problem! :)
To be fair, FGW are usually polite (http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/coffeeshop/index.php?topic=4618.msg40659#msg40659) ... ;D Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: thetrout on May 23, 2010, 08:29:16 Again... Spot the problem... ;D
(http://www.mcknet.co.uk/images-data/random/fail2.jpg) Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: grahame on May 23, 2010, 08:36:31 On reflection, that looks like Chippenham .... and on further reflection, that's not the question you asked ;)
Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: thetrout on May 23, 2010, 08:46:11 It is indeed Chippenham... ;D
But there is a crucial error in the poster... As a hint, it would certainly not get you that A grade at GCSE ;) Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: Brucey on May 23, 2010, 08:50:02 "On the advice the of British Transport Police" ::)
Shouldn't there also be a comma or some other punctuation after the word Police in that sentence? Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: Cruithne3753 on May 23, 2010, 16:55:16 (http://www.cruithne3753.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/stuff/lockcar.jpg)
What I want to know is how do you remove valuables from your car after you've locked it? Smash a window? Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: Cruithne3753 on May 23, 2010, 17:03:29 It is indeed Chippenham... ;D But there is a crucial error in the poster... As a hint, it would certainly not get you that A grade at GCSE ;) Apart from the typos, interesting route there... although last time I looked Temple Meads is still just down the road from me, they don't seem to have moved it to somewhere past Camarthen... Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: John R on May 23, 2010, 20:50:27 Some services to and from Bristol TM were included, as they were extended to or started from Cardiff. I suspect it is a statutory requirement to put posters up at every station where there are trains calling affected by the ban, so perfectly reasonable why there were posters at Chippenham.
Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: inspector_blakey on May 23, 2010, 21:06:30 Any ideas why on Friday 14 May when I was at Cardiff Central the departure boards were advising that all services on te Bargoed/Rhymney branch that day were dry...?
Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: devon_metro on May 23, 2010, 21:17:57 It was the first day for many years that it hasn't rained in Wales?

Surely if such is the case, you would not need your coat? :p...coat Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: Hafren on May 23, 2010, 23:05:42 Any ideas why on Friday 14 May when I was at Cardiff Central the departure boards were advising that all services on te Bargoed/Rhymney branch that day were dry...? The upper valleys (above Bargoed/Pontypridd I think) are always shown as dry... as far as I know it's a byelaw to reduce anti-social behaviour. Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: Mookiemoo on May 24, 2010, 03:09:01 does that not say more about the welsh valley inhabitants than the train service

Even at 8am they are announced as dry at Cardiff Central. Does rather advertise the fact that the areas ahve their problems Title: Re: A True Fail... :P Post by: Phil on May 25, 2010, 10:12:14 Even at 8am they are announced as dry at Cardiff Central.
