Title: Ticket type acronyms Post by: grahame on October 22, 2009, 09:42:01 Groupsave are only valid on OP tickets so probably not valid on the SDS fare, but yes they are valid on SVS/SSS/CDS fares. Our Acronyms page (http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/acronyms.html) lacks many of these ... let's see OP - Off Peak SDS - Standard Day Single SVS - Saver Single SSS - Super Saver Single CDS - Cheap Day Single Do I have those right? What other ticket codes are there that I should add to the abbreviation list? Sorry to muddy the waters, but following 'Fares Simplification' the names were changed, although the ticket codes remained the same. SOS - Anytime Single (formerly 'Open') SDS - Anytime Day Single (formerly 'Standard Day') SVS - Off Peak Single (formerly 'Saver') SSS - Super Off Peak Single (formerly 'SuperSaver') CDS - Off Peak Day Single (formerly 'Cheap Day') xxR for the return versions. These are the official ATOC names and the pros and cons of using them have kept many a rail forum topic going. It is a little weird that the names were changed but not the codes. Cost and re-training staff were probably the main reasons for keeping the old codes. Perhaps the acronyms page can show the new names with the the former names bracketed as I have done. (EDIT: There are literally hundreds of other codes covering things such as First Class,Travelcards, Advance, Business/Executive, Seasons, International......ad infinitum) Title: Acronyms Post by: grahame on October 22, 2009, 10:41:47 Sorry to muddy the waters, but following 'Fares Simplification' the names were changed, although the ticket codes remained the same. Everything mentioned in this thread is an abbreviation rather than an acronym. The list of acronyms (and other abbreviations) is mainly made up of abbreviations as well. I had a Google to find a proper definition of acronym, found this one:- very interesting: useful if you wish to be really pedantic (Moi ?) or for quizzes ! http://searchcio-midmarket.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid183_gci211518,00.html ;D Title: Re: Ticket type abbreviations Post by: grahame on October 24, 2009, 10:51:15 Acronym or Abbreviation ? Yes, should be "abbreviations" of course. Thanks! Title: Re: Ticket type acronyms Post by: 6 OF 2 redundant adjunct of unimatrix 01 on October 24, 2009, 17:20:56 wps= LEI ADV PROMO :D

I see that it appears on the NFM, usually at around half the price of the cheapest advance fare but it is never available to buy online. Is this some special rate?Title: Re: Ticket type acronyms Post by: Tim on December 18, 2009, 10:12:26 wps= LEI ADV PROMO :D Does anyone know exactly what this ticket type is?
