Claverton pump uses water power to raise water from the river Avon to the canal which is about 40 or 50 feet above, up the hillside. The railway between Bath and Freshford runs close by. It's Goodland Gardens next to the River Tone, which used to be navigable prior to the opening of the Bridgwater and Taunton canal; so there's your transport connection! Returning to the one 'unidentified' community, though: I agree with 'bignosemac' - there's some interesting architecture there. It rather looks to me like the sort of sheltered housing that some employers used to provide for their loyal employees or pensioners - a bit like almshouses. I'm not sure of the history of these houses but I'm fairly sure that they were put there by the old railway company for local staff; it's a while since I took the picture so the circumstances / things I saw that gave me this impression are a little fuzzy - they were certainly named "railway ...
