Can't confirm anything but there was some fencing work going on at Penryn adjacent to the signal ducting on the old platform last week using a digger. This digger could have cut through the cables in the ducting which prohibit the use of the loop, I note that it's every other service that's been withdrawn so some services are still running. 

Todays Fal service was running hourly with all services calling at Perranwell, some signal failure or something, was pilotman working, both 153's were coupled together so at least a 2 car in operation.

Service back to normal at about 3pm.

Signalling problems in the Penryn area caused most of the problems early on. Got back  to normal at 13:20 ex-Truro, only to be scuppered by a new signalling issue at Penwithers that blocked access off the Flamouth Branch into Truro. 1443 ex Falmouth sat outside Truro for 48 mins awaiting the start of pilot working between Truro and Penwithers Junction! The unit at the other end of the branch ran a Falmouth-Penryn-Falmouth shuttle during the disruption.

The fencing work is because some local who has a house next to a railway line is complaining about the noise, can't believe the railway pay for this action, maybe he should learn to close his front door (which is always open)......

... and what a fence it is, saw it today. Should have been higher would have cut the view from the first floor of his house as well then.  ;D

Should just park a class 20 outside every night ticking over!

Or GM engined loco. Annoying!!

Just to be fair to this householders problem...
The front of his house faces the part of Penryn platform which wasn't used for many years (probably 40+). The units used to stop mid platform some 40 - 50 yards further down towards Falmouth and then only 10-12 times a day. Since the loop was put in and the platform refurbished, the Truro bound trains pull up much further and now stop right opposite the front of his house and because of the timings stand there for 3-4 minutes every half hour, 20+ times a day.
Now I know if you have a house next to a railway line you have to expect noise but when you are use to a certain working pattern any big change like the one above is bound to *yellow water" anyone off...

The "no personal attacks" stipulation on The Coffee Shop applies .... not only to attacking (or appearing to attack) other members, but also other people who are not members.  There may be a grey area in attacking politicians and public figures at times, but not in attacking members of the public who are nothing to do with this board, but can clearly (and permanently) be identified from such posts.

Should this thread be altered so that this post looks out of context, you won't find me complaining  ;)
