Title: engineering staff Post by: smithy on August 14, 2009, 15:15:04 I must commend FGW on the engineering staff they have got out and about on the network,i was down in cornwall earlier in the week when a train developed a fault that could of cancelled the service one of their fitters turned up and had us moving in no time so well done.
obviously do not want to get personal about staff but has anyone else got any good experiences of similar things? i feel it is good to give credit where it is due instead of the usual negative stuff that gets aimed at FGW (although not so much these days) Title: Re: engineering staff Post by: The SprinterMeister on August 14, 2009, 15:49:15 I must commend FGW on the engineering staff they have got out and about on the network,i was down in cornwall earlier in the week when a train developed a fault that could of cancelled the service one of their fitters turned up and had us moving in no time so well done. obviously do not want to get personal about staff but has anyone else got any good experiences of similar things? i feel it is good to give credit where it is due instead of the usual negative stuff that gets aimed at FGW (although not so much these days) The fleet travelling engineers that deal with the West units are both first class people and certainly know their stuff. Very good move on whoever was responsible for taking them on. :) Title: Re: engineering staff Post by: smithy on August 14, 2009, 17:00:34 I agree I think it was in Wales and west days when they were taken on,I am surprised more TOCS don't have similar staff

And one of the SPM fitters has also become one of the travelling fitters working out of Westbury nowadays.
