Title: Very hot train Post by: johoare on August 12, 2009, 23:07:01 I was on the 6.39pm from Maidenhead to Reading today.. From my London commuting days I knew this was the 6.18 from Paddington.. When I got on it was an "air conditioned" train and in my carriage I can confirm ALL the windows were shut.. And.. it was like an oven when I got on.. It had been jam packed full of people until Maidenhead as usual... By the time we got to Reading with a lot less people on board it was getting cooler thanks to the air con.. This proves my suspicions that these particular air conditioned trains can only cope with nearly empty carriages... which doesn't really work with the commuter routes which are packed full of people...
FGW - please get rid of your air conditioned carriages on the commuter routes.. it doesnt work.. ever... At least with a ac one there is (hopefully) some airflow. However the one 166 I have encountered with theair con just working was rubbish enough to warrant a window being open!
