Title: Sunset from Castle Cary Post by: moonrakerz on August 06, 2009, 23:12:05 Travelled from Westbury to Paignton (zoo) today. Weather - not so hot, rained a bit in Exeter. Got 19:54 from Exeter St Davids back to Westbury, clouds thinned out on the way up - this was the sunset at Castle Cary, taken from the vestibule and through the open door window.
This is as it came from the camera - not "tweaked" at all. Worth the trip just for this ! (http://i29.tinypic.com/2m4x8hd.jpg) PS: Travelled on five different FGW trains - all on time, ticket checked once. Was our second busiest day of summer so far (will check some official figures tomorrow)

Was our second busiest day of summer so far (will check some official figures tomorrow) The day was picked at random a couple of months back to use advance tickets - it certainly was busy, but the zoo has the space to be able to cope with large numbers without it appearing to be overcrowded. Also, eldest daughter (28) had never travelled along the sea front at Dawlish. Trip down in a 14?, not to be recommended. Noise and discomfort just ruins the trip. Came back to Newton Abbot and changed to an FGW HST for return to Exeter, much more civilised. Did you not have to wait to get in? The queue on Wednesday was as far back as Morrisons :D Nice photo btw Title: Re: Sunset from Castle Cary Post by: Chris from Nailsea on August 07, 2009, 21:56:32 Yes: that's a rather inspiring picture, moonrakerz - thanks for posting it here! ;)
If you don't mind, I've saved it as a wallpaper - to cheer me up, when the new fares come in, for example? ::) Title: Re: Sunset from Castle Cary Post by: moonrakerz on August 08, 2009, 09:31:36 The day was picked at random a couple of months back to use advance tickets - it certainly was busy, but the zoo has the space to be able to cope with large numbers without it appearing to be overcrowded.
