I wonder why you got them 3!! ;D :P :D Hey - I'm not widely travelled in the FGW nor am I a train spotter - but I think I've spent more than enough time on that line! The only one I wasnt sure about was Morton as the engineering does not start until next week! (I hope as I'm planning to get the 0624 tomorrow morning now im swine flu clear!) Title: Re: A Sunday Brainteaser Post by: Mookiemoo on July 12, 2009, 15:16:13 Is 4 exeter?
And I'm only saying that because I've just been working out how to get to exeter university for a summer school and I noticed that there are three stations with exeter in the name! Title: Re: A Sunday Brainteaser Post by: inspector_blakey on July 12, 2009, 16:26:18 1. St Germans
3. St Andrew's Road 5. Acton Main Line 9. Nailsea and Backwell 10. Moreton in Marsh Title: Re: A Sunday Brainteaser Post by: grahame on July 12, 2009, 17:53:14 Is 4 exeter? I'm suspecting that it's Worthing ... but let's wait for Rick's verdict. I was thinking Exeter (Exeter St. Thomas) rather than St Germans for No.1, but I think both might match the clues. Title: Re: A Sunday Brainteaser Post by: devon_metro on July 12, 2009, 17:56:31 Is 4 exeter? I'm suspecting that it's Worthing ... but let's wait for Rick's verdict. I was thinking Exeter (Exeter St. Thomas) rather than St Germans for No.1, but I think both might match the clues. Both are correct, however SWT pass St Germans once weekly in each direction so I imagine it was St Thomas. (Even Melksham trumps that figure - 1 per day M-S :D) Title: Re: A Sunday Brainteaser Post by: Chris from Nailsea on July 12, 2009, 20:37:27 9) My 2 platforms are situated on a road bridge I am served exclusively by FGW All trains that stop at me, heading North, stop at Bristol Temple Meads I am a popular habitat for a certain Moderator here Ahem! :-[ Well, I'm glad I'm popular somewhere! ;D Title: Re: A Sunday Brainteaser Post by: 6 OF 2 redundant adjunct of unimatrix 01 on July 12, 2009, 22:01:12 i agree with devon metro i think its st thomas
Title: Re: A Sunday Brainteaser Post by: Zoe on July 13, 2009, 00:59:11 Both are correct, however SWT pass St Germans once weekly in each direction so I imagine it was St Thomas. (Even Melksham trumps that figure - 1 per day M-S :D) It can't be St Germans as SWT stop there.Title: Re: A Sunday Brainteaser Post by: gaf71 on July 13, 2009, 06:22:36 1. exeter st thomas
2. starcross Title: Re: A Sunday Brainteaser Post by: ReWind on July 13, 2009, 07:55:01 1) is Exeter St Thomas
2) is Starcross 3) is St Andrews Road 4) is not Exeter, Sorry 5) is Acton Main Line 7) is Upwey 8) is Ledbury 9) is Nailsea 10) is Moreton in Marsh Just 4 and 6 to guess now Title: Re: A Sunday Brainteaser Post by: eightf48544 on July 13, 2009, 10:39:03 4 Malvern?
6 Filton? Although I thought it now had 3 platforms. Title: Re: A Sunday Brainteaser Post by: rogerw on July 13, 2009, 11:14:56 I think 6 is Yate. 4 could have been Great Malvern but Malvern Wells station has been closed for a number of years.
Title: Re: A Sunday Brainteaser Post by: grahame on July 13, 2009, 13:27:58 I remain fairly sure that Worthing answers all the clues correctly for (4) ... but it's a long way from normal FGW territory, so may not be what Rick had in mind.
Title: Re: A Sunday Brainteaser Post by: ReWind on July 13, 2009, 15:53:16 6 is Worthing Grahame, Well Done.
Worthing sees just as many FGW services that Melksham does ;D :D In fact, on Sundays it receives more!!!! And 4 is Yate, well done all! :-* Title: Re: A Sunday Brainteaser Post by: TerminalJunkie on July 13, 2009, 16:11:18 Quote from: Rick 1) I have the word "St" in my station name I have 2 platforms I am served exclusively by FGW However XC trains, pass through me, as well as SWT's 1) is Exeter St Thomas 2) I am located on the waterfront, with a ferry service from me I have 2 platforms I am served exclusively by FGW XC trains pass through me 2) is Starcross From the clues given, number 1 could have been Starcross as well! Starcross doesn't have the word "St" in it. It has the letters S and T, but not the word "St"! Title: Re: A Sunday Brainteaser Post by: 6 OF 2 redundant adjunct of unimatrix 01 on July 13, 2009, 17:58:49 'st' isn't a word its an abrivation, short for saint or street
