Title: Poll testing (Re: Testing )
Post by: grahame on June 26, 2009, 07:02:41
... testing the "Poll" buttons and ability to add a poll.

Any logged in user can post a new poll (when viewing the list of threads on a board) or can add a poll to a topic which (s)he started ... but not onto other people's topics.

Two "however"s

1. The buttons to add a poll are at the bottom of the page along with a dynamic set of other options, and not with the much more commonly used "quote" and "modify" buttons

2. The ability to add polls to "introductions and chat" and to "diary" is switched off - you can't add polls in either of those board.

I tend to be very careful about adding polls - to add them on subjects which a good number of people may wish to vote on (trying to avoid too many 'read but don't vote' polls), and to be very careful to define the options to provide an answer that fits each set of circumstances / views / lack of views without there being any suggestion of bias in the way or order that the options are presented.

I'll make an excpetion to my tight view about polls for the "poll of polls" in the lighter side which is hilarious!  Yet many a true word spoken in jest
